Times sure have changed at Assumption Cemetery. Was a time when every blade of grass looked like it was individually manicured, and each individual site was groomed and plantings cared for and trimmed neatly. Not any more! The mower goes down the middle of the rows never coming within a foot of the head stones. and forget about in between the stones, they never see a trimmer. And the plantings and trees that are allowed are abominable. The families dont maintain or trim them anymore so they're just left to ramble all over the countryside covering your parents stone as well as its own and being choked with vines and wild trees growing within them. Just take a look at the Jewish side of the cemetery across the street and you will see the difference between a group that cares for the memory of their departed and what is happening at Assumption. My parents grave site collapsed about 10 " and it took them 2 years to fill it, then over a year to put any top soil and grass seed on it and that was only after I went and got the young college workers employed there took them to the site and watched them do the repairs. Then the next time I visited in the Fall the grass had grown alright, It was about 18" tall and full of weeds and dandelion. Come on Assumption let's get on the ball and put the time and money into this sacred ground that it deserves and let's quit subsidizing the Cardinals junkets and whimsical fiascos. We've had enough of these 2&3 collection envelopes every other week in church for everybody and everything but our own.
